Chainsaw attacker at large after two men injured in horror West Lothian murder bid

Police are hunting a chainsaw-wielding maniac who left his victim with a partially served arm in a crazed murder bid.

Emergency crews raced to Rowan Place in Blackburn, West Lothian, at around 10.10pm last night.

Dozens of officers and a helicopter swarmed the street after reports of a 23-year-old man running amok with the weapon.

Terrified locals were urged to remain indoors as the thug carried out the targeted attack.

A 35-year-old was raced to hospital with serious injuries, but is now believed to be in a stable condition.

Police Scotland confirmed a 37-year-old man was also treated for minor injuries after the shocking incident.

Officers continue to carry out investigations on the street this morning as the chainsaw attacker remains at large.

DCI Bryan Burns, from Dalkeith CID, said: “Around 10.10pm on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, Police were called to the Rowan Place area of Blackburn, following the attempted murder of a 35-year-old man. He was taken by ambulance to St John’s Hospital in Livingston, where he is being treated for serious injuries. A 37-year-old man also received minor injuries.

“Local officers and a number of specialist resources remain in the area and extensive enquiries are ongoing to trace a 23-year-old man in connection with this incident. This was a targeted attack and there is not believed to be a threat to the wider community.

“Anyone with information which could assist the investigation is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 4547 of May 6.”
