Since many access points for ice fishing on the Chain O’Lakes are bars and restaurants, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But, it looks about the same, at least as of now.
A bigger issue may be the “wintry mix” tonight.
Most establishments will run a version of $5 parking or expect patronizing.
Hermann’s Rest-A-While (Nielsen’s Channel) has been hopping with ice anglers since last week.
Granny’s Lakeside Diner at Spring Lake Marina is in, as is Chopper’s Bar and Grill (Channel). Sandbar Bar and Grille (Marie) is going with $10 parking (or patronize) and anglers should park around back.
Oak Park Lounge (Pistakee Bay) is in, even if more shutdowns come.
Owner Tom Cahill said Barnacle Bob’s (Marie) will have parking, but they will be shut and won’t have bait. He suggested using Chopper’s or Sandbar instead, especially on early ice.
A couple of the usual access points did not respond, so I may be updating this later.
