Chadwick Boseman’s wife Taylor Simone Ledward delivered an emotional speech while accepting the late actor’s Golden Globe.

Boseman, who died of cancer in August 2020, posthumously won Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his role in George C Wolfe’s Netflix film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

Ledward, appearing via video link, said: “He would thank God. He would thank his parents. He would thank his ancestors for their guidance and their sacrifices.”

Fighting back tears, she continued: “I don’t have his words but we have to take all the moment to celebrate all we love, so thank you, HFPA, for this opportunity to do exactly that.”

A statement posted on the actor’s Twitter account on Friday called him “a true fighter” and said he had “persevered through it all”.

He quietly married Ledward in the final months of his life.
