Chadwick Boseman's missing uncle is found alive but seriously dehydrated

Chadwick Boseman's uncle was found alive after he went missing for several days in South Carolina.

The late actor's uncle, Tony Boseman, was first reported missing over the weekend.

Anderson County Sheriff's Office updated their original post about Tony being missing to say he had 'been located'.

"Just before 2 p.m., the Sheriff's Office [and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division/SLED] teamed up and came across him on foot around half a mile away from his house — which is ironic because we've searched miles, but it's understandable because it's a wood area, almost like a wooden ditch," Public Information Officer Shale Remien told PEOPLE.

"He has been reported missing a time or two here. We're hoping that this is the last and they can come up with some sort of game plan moving forward."

Once Tony was found, he was airlifted to Prisma Health, a nearby hospital.

The officer added that Chadwick's uncle was 'severely dehydrated' and that they hope he can 'get back on his feet' after being cared for.

When he went missing, authorities said he was last seen in the Boseman Road area at around 3.30pm on Sunday.

The press release also mentioned that Tony has dementia and type 2 diabetes.

It took authorities the use of drones, horses, dogs, and helicopters to find Tony.

Tony's safe return comes after Chadwick - who died of cancer in 2020 at the age of 43 - was honoured with a posthumous Emmy win at the Creative Arts ceremony for his role in Marvel's What If...? series.

On Saturday, the late actor was awarded the Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance gong at the Creative Arts Emmys for his performance as Star Lord T’Challa in the animated Marvel TV series What If…? In an episode titled What If… T’Challa Became A Star-Lord?

The actor won the award over late actress Jessica Waler, who died aged 80 in March last year, for her voice work in the adult comedy animation Archer, as well as F. Murray Abraham who voiced Khonshu in the recent Marvel live-action TV show Moon Knight.

Picking up the award on behalf of Chadwick, his widowed wife said, according to Deadline: “When I learned Chad was nominated, I started thinking of everything that was going on in the world and our world and being so in awe of his commitment and dedication and what a beautiful moment that one of the last things he would work on was something so important to him and to the world but also something new.

“You can’t understand your purpose unless you ask what if? What if the universe is conspiring in my favor? What if it’s me?”

She added: “Chad would be so honored and I am honored on his behalf.”
