Chadwick Boseman's brother also battled cancer before Black Panther star's death

Chadwick Boseman’s older brother Kevin Boseman shared that he is in remission following his own battle with cancer.

The 48-year-old opened up on being two-years cancer free on an Instagram Story shared on October 14, according to The Shade Room.

Kevin discussing overcoming the disease comes after his Black Panther star brother Chadwick sadly died aged 43 in August following a secret battle with colon cancer.

He penned on social media: "Today marks my official two-year remission anniversary, October 14, 2020,” he wrote. “I was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and underwent for rounds of chemotherapy. I’m in remission!!!!! You read right. I am in remission.”

He bravely explained: “I wanted to share because while it’s been a year of profound loss and tragedy for so many of us, this is good news. Something to smile about. Something to shout about.

“I hope you’re smiling and shouting with me!

"Cancer is something most of us have no control over. We can only control our responses to it, which includes being proactive about our healthcare both physically and mental.”

Urging his followers to prioritise their healthy, he added: "“Tomorrow is not promised and early detection saves lives. Health is wealth. True wealth.”

Earlier this year, Chadwick's tragic death was announced in a heatbreaking statement from his family.

The statement read on Instagram : "It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman.

"Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV.

"A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much.

"From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.

"It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.

"He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side.

"The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time."
