Chad Kelly avoids jail time, may face suspension from NFL

Former Denver Broncos quarterback Chad Kelly will avoid going to jail after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of trespassing. The plea deal will give Kelly “50 hours of community service and one year supervised probation,” according to KUSA-TV’s Jon Glasgow.

Kelly, 24, was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal trespassing on Oct. 23 last year. The Broncos released him the next day. The former Ole Miss quarterback has started a comeback bid, posting workout videos on social media.

After pleading guilty to trespassing, Kelly will likely face a suspension from the NFL if he signs with a team.

If Kelly is unable to get back to the NFL, perhaps he could launch a comeback through the Canadian Football League or Alliance of American Football. That may not be necessary, though, as Klis reported Kelly has drawn “some interest” from NFL teams.

Kelly was selected by the Broncos with the final pick in the 2017 NFL draft. He dressed for just one game during his time in Denver.
