CFP projections: Who does Georgia play in semifinal?

Pete Fiutak of College Football News has updated his College Football Playoff projections.

With the Georgia Bulldogs sitting at 7-0 and No. 1 in the nation, almost every outlet is picking the Dawgs to make the playoff. Some are saying Alabama will make it as well, which means they have Georgia losing to the Tide in the SEC Championship Game.

Fiutak, though, does not see it that way. He has Georgia beating Alabama, causing Nick Saban to miss the CFP altogether.

In Fiutak’s projections, Georgia makes the Capital One Orange Bowl, where it plays and beats Cincinnati in the semifinal.

Everything will line up perfectly for Cincinnati.

It will need a few two-loss Power Five champions for the first time in the CFP era, and the ACC and Pac-12 will come through. It will also need for Alabama to lose in the SEC Championship, and Georgia will take care of that. Assuming the Big 12 champion is in and goes to the Cotton Bowl, the SEC champ will be in Miami.

Fiutak also has Oklahoma beating Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl, which would call for another Georgia vs Oklahoma playoff game, this time in the national championship.
