But could this 2019 team be even better? Expert Phil Steele, known for his incredibly accurate predictions in his annual preseason college football magazine, thinks this team will be Smart’s best since his arrival in Athens.
“That’s a Georgia team that I think it’s the best team that they’ve put on the field under Kirby Smart so far,” Steele said while on the SEC Radio Network. “They’ve got six returning starters on offense, six on defense – an improved team over last year.”
Is this team better than that 2017 team? I’m not sure. I guess we won’t know until it’s over. But for Steele to say what he did about this year’s squad, that should be enough to get Georgia fans fired up.
