CFB analyst Phil Steele has high praise for UGA safeties

Recently, highly-respected college football analyst Phil Steele released his top draft eligible players by position in college football.

Steele ranked Georgia’s Richard LeCounte as the best draft-eligible free safety in college football. LeCounte, a former five-star recruit, has been impressive in his UGA career thus far, particularly last season when he recorded 74 tackles and an interception.

Steele also had high praise for safety JR Reed, who he ranked as the third-best draft-eligible strong safety. Reed, also a junior, had an impressive season last year as well, recording 66 tackles and two interceptions.

Both LeCounte and Reed clearly gain respect from the national media, so is it possible that the Dawgs have the best safety duo in college football? While there are certainly many worthwhile candidates, there can be no denying of the two-headed monster that Georgia has in its defensive backfield.
