CEVA Logistics says 220-strong UK company car fleet will be fully electric within four years

One of the world’s biggest supply management companies has announced that its 220-strong UK company car fleet will become fully electric within four years.

CEVA Logistics’ said the move would cut carbon emissions by 262 tonnes a year and all vehicle charging points at company facilities will use green electricity.

CEVA, which is based in Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire, employs more than 5,300 people in the UK and more around the world, and turned over more than £357 million in 2019.

This month the company took delivery of the first fully electric cars as the first part of the new policy came in.

It aims to have its entire fleet of more than 220 cars moved to all-electric before 2025,

Ahead of Government plans to ban the sale of petrol and diesel cars by 2030.

By next year as existing cars reach the end of their leases, just over half of new vehicles joining the CEVA fleet will be electric.

The company’s UK employees drive almost 1.4 million miles a year, currently creating a carbon footprint of 380 tonnes of CO2.

When the switchover to electric is complete, that will drop to 118 tonnes.

The business said all its UK sites now used 100 per cent renewable energy.

Jamie Foster, CEVA Logistics procurement director for Europe, said: “This change has been possible through the vision and passion of our people and has been a collaborative endeavour with all team members.

“Everyone was committed to change and confident that it could be achieved, and we are now able to make this announcement.”

Chris Walton, CEVA Logistics managing director for UK and Ireland, said: “We are all committed to the future of the planet and we wanted to make an active contribution which would have real benefits for all concerned.

“We will continue to evaluate possible adoption of the most eco-friendly solutions for all our energy requirements across the business.”
