Cesc Fabregas takes dig at Tottenham on social media - and Arsenal & Chelsea fans will love it

Cesc Fabregas said Tottenham Hotspur will 'not win anything this season', after responding to former Spurs defender Graham Roberts on Twitter.

The Monaco midfielder had originally posted a question on the social media site asking: 'Genuine question... As a fan, would you rather get to the Champions League final and be a runner up or win the Europa League? Just curious.'

Roberts, a UEFA Cup and two-time FA Cup winner with Tottenham, responded to Fabregas by saying: 'Not getting much game time now then Cesc?'

Fabregas, who played for both Arsenal and Chelsea during his career in the Premier League, hit back at the Spurs legend with: 'I don’t know who you are and I don’t know if I’m getting enough game time or not but I do know you won’t win anything again this season.'

The midfielder joined Monaco in the January transfer window to play under his former Arsenal teammate Thierry Henry, before the Frenchman's sacking.

A two-time Premier League champion with the Blues, Fabregas has also been a world champion and double European champion with Spain, and won every major domestic honour with Barcelona after returning to La Liga in 2011.

Fabregas was a product of the Catalan's famous youth academy but moved to Arsenal before making his senior debut.

The 31-year-old made his final appearance for Chelsea in January in the FA Cup win against Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder was handed a rare start and given the captain's armband for his final appearance for the Blues.

Maurizio Sarri withdrew Fabregas in the closing minutes so supporters could give the Spaniard a deserved send off after 198 games for the club.

"Time flies," said Fabregas. "It feels like last week that I started playing professionally and now it's more than 15 years.

"It goes so fast and you have to be ready every three days, for the criticism with everyone saying how good you are and the ups and downs.

"It feels like growing older it never goes away it is technique. Physicality goes away. Technicality stays with you."
