Former Arsenal and Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas has heaped praise on football supporters for their role in trying, and succeeding, to prevent the European Super League taking place.
Earlier on Tuesday evening, football.london reported that the Blues were planning on withdrawing from the controversial plans - that have been widely condemned by senior football figures, as well as fans, and hours later, they did just that.
Manchester City officially pulled out of the breakaway league first, and Chelsea followed.
Manchester United then confirmed that their executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward had resigned, and the Reds also followed in withdrawing from the competition.
As the dominoes continued to fall. Liverpool's players united with social media posts sharing their disgust about the plans for the lucrative getaway, sparking their club into action, and the rest of the top six, including Arsenal and Tottenham, soon withdrew.
Now, Fabregas has lauded football fans for their part in the potential collapse of the proposals, taking to his Twitter page.
The Spaniard tweeted: "Well done football fans. This beautiful sport is nothing without you (clapping and love heart emoji)."
Hundreds of Chelsea supporters gathered outside Stamford Bridge before this Tuesday night's draw with Brighton to protest the club's plans.
Petr Cech even came outside at one point to confront Blues supporters, with the club advisor reassuring fans that they are working on something amid the furious protest.
The proposed plans would have seen the 12 founding members, three others who have not been named, and a further five invited clubs compete in an annual competition alongside domestic leagues.
As well as this, the "Founding Clubs" would be guaranteed qualification every year.
The confirmed teams were: Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Juventus.
All six of the English clubs have now withdrawn.
