Cesc Fabregas reacts to Tiemoue Bakayoko's hilarious mistake during Monaco victory

It's often said that old habits die hard.

And Tiemoue Bakayoko is proof of that as he did something quite hilarious during AS Monaco's Ligue 1 clash against Amiens on Saturday night.

The midfielder, who is on loan from Chelsea this season, is back at the Stade Louis II for a second spell as he hopes to recapture the form that earned him a big money move to Stamford Bridge a couple of summers ago.

To Bakayoko's credit he's performed well in his 10 league appearances thus far.

On his latest outing for Monaco he partnered former Blues midfielder Cesc Fabregas in the middle of the park in a comfortable 3-0 win over Amiens and got 90 minutes under his belt.

Except, Bakayoko was under the impression he was being substituted in the 81st minute.

As the official held up the number 14 the Frenchman made his way to the touchline, presuming that he was done for the night.

However, it was quickly pointed out that he wasn't being taken off as that was his squad number from his first spell at the club - clearly he forgot he's now wearing no.6!

Take a look at the funny incident thanks to the club's official Twitter account.

Fabregas caught wind of what happened and couldn't hide his laughter.

"Only Baka could do something like that. I couldn’t stop laughing. Love you bro," he tweeted.

To which Bakayoko responded with three laughing emojis.

After rejoining Monaco, Bakayoko insisted it was not a step back for his career.

"There was a good opportunity to come back here in a very good project," he said at his unveiling in September. "Lots of people will perhaps say that I am taking a step back by coming to Monaco but I see it differently.

"My two experiences abroad allowed me to play a lot, contrary to what a lot of people have said. My season in Milan brought me a lot in terms of new avenues of football and professionalism. I have taken a lot of positive things away from it.

"The club is what is important today. I do not think about my personal ambitions.

"I want to try to perform well on the pitch to help the club reach its objectives.

"Les Bleus, I think about it, but it will come as and when. I come back with a new standing, I really want to bring to this group what I have learned and to try to transmit more confidence here."
