Cesc Fabregas offers strong advice as ‘verbal agreement’ found on Chelsea defender transfer

Former Chelsea and Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas has said that Andreas Christensen needs to be more forceful as he appears to edge towards a move to the Camp Nou.

The Danish defender is out of contract at the end of the season and would be able to leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer.

A number of clubs have been credited with an interest in Christensen ahead of the summer transfer window including the likes of Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

It appears to be the latter who have stolen a march though, with Sport suggesting that a verbal agreement has been found between the Catalan giants and the Danish defender ahead of a switch.

The news will certainly disappoint Thomas Tuchel, who had previously expressed his optimism of Christensen staying at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, ex-Blues midfielder Cesc Fabregas has also had his say on Christensen and suggested that he needs to develop more of a nasty streak if he is to be successful with Barcelona.

Speaking with Spanish outlet Jijantes, the 34-year-old said: “He seems like a great player to me and his contract is up.

“When I arrived at Chelsea, in 2014, he was already training with us from time to time. He was the typical young man who went up, and then you could see the way he read the game, the way he anticipated…

“I always say that, sometimes, he needs to be a little bit more scrappy, right? He’s a very good kid, and sometimes it's a little bit of what I see in Eric (Garcia), although I don’t know him.

“And today, in football, if you want to shove without hurting anyone, you have to be a little bit more forceful.”

Christensen might not actually be the only player to swap Stamford Bridge for the Nou Camp this summer.

Cesar Azpilicueta - also a teammate of Fabregas during his time at Chelsea - has also been linked with a switch back to his homeland this summer amid his expiring deal.
