Former Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas has given his verdict on reported Blues target and current teammate Aurélien Tchouameni.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been linked with the Blues ahead of this summer having impressed in Ligue 1 with 30 league appearances so far this term.
Tchouameni is a versatile midfielder, capable of playing a number of positions in midfield, and according to former Chelsea midfielder Fabregas, that's very much his Monaco teammate's strength.
Asked about Tchouameni amid links of a move away, Fabregas told BT Sport: "I think he can play anywhere in midfield and he will not have a problem."
"He can play as a defensive midfielder, a six as well, he can play as a number eight.
"In (a few) years' time, I even believe he can become a good number 10 because he has the power to get into the box. His final pass needs to improve a little bit but he is so young.
"He is determined to learn and from what I can see and the will that he has, he has a bright future in front of him."
Tchouameni has been with Monaco for just over a year having joined from Ligue 1 rivals Bordeaux in 2020 on a deal worth more than £16million.
Chelsea are said to be eyeing Tchouameni, who is valued at more than £20million by Transfermarkt, as an alternative to Declan Rice, who is valued at more than £100million.
The Blues are likely to prioritise a top striker this summer with Erling Haaland linked, meaning they are unlikely to spend what it would take to lure Rice back to Stamford Bridge.
