Cesc Fabregas delivers honest two-word verdict on Arsenal's penalty call vs Man City

Cesc Fabregas has had his say on the decision to award Manchester City a penalty during their 2-1 win against Arsenal.

The Gunners took the lead through the club's reigning player of the year Bukayo Saka, who swept home after Kieran Tierney had crossed it in just after half an hour had been played.

City then got back into the game from a Riyad Mahrez penalty after Granit Xhaka was adjudged to have brought down Bernardo Silva in the box.

The crowd in the Emirates Stadium were clearly unhappy with the decision, booing referee Stuart Attwell, who former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Fabregas claimed made the wrong call.

Fabregas tweeted: "That’s never a pen," before adding a two-word verdict: "Terrible decision."

A fan then replied claiming that the Spaniard's verdict was wrong before he replied: "He was already falling."

The home side then went down to ten men shortly after, with Brazilian centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes receiving a second yellow card for fouling Gabriel Jesus on the halfway line.

City dominated the remainder of the contest before former Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri finished past Aaron Ramsdale in the 93rd minute to clinch all three points for the reigning champions.

Arsenal have the opportunity to get back to winning ways on Thursday evening as they host Liverpool in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup.

The north London outfit travel to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup three days later before facing the Reds in the second leg of their League Cup clash.
