Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta admits there is room for improvement for Chelsea if they are to achieve their goals this season.
The Blues lost for a first time in the Premier League since September as they were beaten 2-1 against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium yesterday (Saturday).
That was despite taking the lead through N'Golo Kante midway through the first half, only for Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez to help Pep Guardiola's men to victory.
And Azpilicueta admitted that Chelsea were punished for not making the most of their advantage in the first half, adding that they should have done better in certain moments during the game.
“We started very well again, in the first 25 minutes we controlled the ball and moved it from side to side and put our attacking players in good positions," he said, speaking to Chelsea TV after the game.
“We went ahead, but we were punished before half time with two goals.
“We pushed in the second half to come back, and we tried to get something from the game, but we weren’t able to."

Azpilicueta added that finishing off chances is something the Blues must work on, particularly for big games against their rivals after slipping to fourth as a result of the defeat.
“When you play games like this against quality teams, you know that small details can make the difference," he said.
“The last 25 minutes we have to make the difference. Sometimes we were a little bit unlucky or we didn’t make the right choice.
“We have to get better and improve on that if we want to go further as a team, we know that.
“There is still improvement we can make and we have to work hard to try and get wins in these sorts of games.”
