Cesar Azpilicueta names the one thing he tries to replicate from Frank Lampard at Chelsea

It has not been the greatest season for Cesar Azpilicueta but there is no doubt the Spaniard consistently gives his all for Chelsea.

The 30-year-old has been with the club since the summer of 2012 and established himself as a crucial member of the squad throughout his time.

Azpilicueta has been asked to play all over the defence at times during his Stamford Bridge career, and in the past few campaigns he has found himself back at right-back.

The defender is one of the last remaining players to have shared with Frank Lampard while he was still playing for the Blues, and is his club captain now that Lampard is the head coach.

And it is Lampard's work ethic when he was a player that Azpilicueta has always tried to replicate while he has been with the west London club.

"It is something I could see when we were sharing the dressing room, now I can see it as a manager," Azpilicueta told the Chelsea website .

"His passion, his desire to win. He is a winner.

Ashley Cole: Mason Mount can be a top player

"I reflect that in myself, the way I come here to Cobham. I know the club quite well, a lot of people who are around and I really feel involved in the day-to-day club life.

"I have passion when I go to the training ground. I always like to win every single possession game or whatever in training. I want to get that into the games where I am very proud to lead the team."

Azpilicueta's place in the Chelsea starting XI could be in threat, however, with the return of Reece James back to training after his injury.

The 20-year-old is unlikely to feature this weekend, but will be fighting for a spot in the side when he has fully returned.
