Cesar Azpilicueta has a message for Maurizio Sarri after his exit from Chelsea to join Juventus

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has thanked Maurizio Sarri after the Italian left Chelsea to join Juventus on a three-year deal.

The 60-year-old manager has left Chelsea after one season in charge in west London, having guided the Blues to a third-placed finish in the Premier League and success in the Europa League, with a 4-1 win against Arsenal in the final.

But despite that success, he has departed the club to join Juventus as Massimiliano Allegri's successor, signing a three-year deal with the Serie A champions.

His exit has been met with a mixed response from Chelsea supporters , with some fans being critical of his style of play during Sarri's season in charge.

But Azpilicueta has taken to social media to post his reaction to Sarri's departure, thanking the Italian for helping the Blues to success in the Europa League, while wishing him well for the future.

The Spaniard said: "Good luck in your next chapter, mister! Thank you for your hard work that helped us to enjoy a great night in Baku!"

Azpilicueta's message has been retweeted by Chelsea's official club account, while Blues director Marina Granovskaia has spoken of the reasons behind Sarri's move, amid his "strong desire" to return to his native country.
