Attendees of a major technology show were dealing with a basic technological failure as the power went off at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES).
The Las Vegas showcase was plunged into darkness on Wednesday as the lights switched off.
“There is an isolated power outage at the Las Vegas Convention Center. We are working hard to resolve this and appreciate your patience,” the event’s official Twitter account said.
A subsequent tweet encouraged people to visit exhibitors in other halls while the outage was resolved.
Attendees — many of whom, unsurprisingly, are on Twitter — took to sharing images and videos of the venue’s darkened central hall.
Some people described being asked to evacuate.
Exhibitors appeared to be undeterred, with one attendee sharing a video of a Tesla vehicle flashing out a coordinated light show.
Others had humorous takes, with Intel’s account calling it the “the biggest thing to hit CES since 5G”.
Some people jokingly wondered why technology wasn't saving them, asking Google or Alexa to turn the lights on.
