CervicalCheck campaigner Stephen Teap makes heartbreaking tribute to wife Irene during trip to Legoland with sons

CervicalCheck campaigner Stephen Teap has paid a heartbreaking tribute to his wife Irene during a trip to Legoland with their sons Noah and Oscar.

He posted a memory on Facebook during a visit with his two boys to the theme park in Windsor, recalling a family holiday abroad in 2016.

Stephen, from Carrigaline, Co Cork, lost Irene in 2017 after she was diagnosed two years earlier.

She was among at least 221 women with cervical cancer mistakenly given the all clear after their smear tests were misread.

Posting a photo taken of the family as they boarded a flight in April 2016 Stephen said it was a bittersweet memory.

He wrote: “Very sobering to see this Facebook memory pop up today as I sit here with Oscar and Noah in Legoland.

“What I take away from this photo is the importance of making memories.

“Don’t waste a second of your life, you’ll never know when it will be your last, always keep moving forward and every now and then take a little rest.”

Stephen has become a vocal campaigner for those affected by the CervicalCheck scandal, along with Vicky Phelan and Lorraine Walsh.
