Ceramics manufacture delays factory re-opening due to lack of raw materials

A Stoke-on-Trent ceramics manufacturer has postponed its return to work as it struggles to source raw materials.

Production at Wade Ceramics, in Etruria, was expected to re-start on April 27 following the two-week Easter shutdown.

But now the company has announced its factory and offices will re-open on Monday, May 18.

In a statement posted on LinkedIN, the company said: "Last month, we made the decision to take a two-week Easter break to ensure the safety of our employees and their families.

"Our return to work will be delayed for a further three weeks, due to our suppliers being unable to deliver raw materials during this time.

"As a result, we will be furloughed, with the factory and offices re-opening on Monday, May 18.

"Should you have any queries, please email your usual Wade contact – all accounts will be monitored.

"We are preparing to return to work as soon as we can safely do so, in line with Government requirements; and we look forward to re-opening the factory doors and firing up the kilns."
