A part of the ceiling collapsed at Central Plaza WestGate during heavy rain on Wednesday night, sending shoppers fleeing.
The mall management said there were no injuries, repairs had been completed and it was business as usual on Thursday morning at the shopping centre in Nonthaburi's Bang Yai district.
Clips on Twitter accounts showed two pieces of the ceiling falling to the ground floor, and people running away from it. Timing of the posts indicated the incident occurred between 9pm and 10pm. A brief power cut was reported. Torrential rain was reported in the area at the time.
The plaza said on its Facebook account on Thursday the severe weather conditionscaused the ceiling collapse. No people were injured but there was slight damage to some shops.
The mall was open and engineers were examing the structure to find the cause of the problem.
