Central Railway registers ticket checking revenue of Rs 82 crore in 8 months

MUMBAI : The Central Railway (CR) Mumbai division has registered ticket checking revenue of Rs 82 crore from April 1 to December 10, an official said on Sunday.

During this period, a total of 14.4 lakh cases of ticketless/irregular travel and unbooked luggage were detected as against 8.9 lakh cases in the corresponding period last year thereby showing an increase of 60%. The revenue recovered was also 79% more as compared to the same period last year.

Said an official, "Our officials conducted intensive ticket checking in suburban, Mail Express, passenger services, and special trains across all divisions to curb ticketless and irregular travel in order to provide comfortable travel and better services to all bonafide rail users."
