KALYAN: In an effort to reduce traffic congestion and reduce delays for both road vehicles and local trains, the Central Railway has made improvements to the level crossings gate number 51 near Titwala station in Maharashtra's Kalyan.
The crossing gate near Titwala is considered one of busiest route which is important connector between East and West of city.
The upgrades include road widening, enhanced road markings and modified gate structure to accommodate the increased width. The road width at Gate No 51 has been expanded by 2.5 meters, resulting in a total width of 9.5 meters, compared to the previous 7-meters width.
A K Jain, Deputy Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway said, "To smoothen the road traffic for early clearance road vehicles and subsequently less detention of local trains width of road is increased by 2.5 meters. Total width has increased from earlier 7 meters to 9.5 meters".
Jain further said, "Road markings and retro reflectors have been provided on road. Height guage of gate has also been modified to increase its height and length of gate boom has been increased according to the increased width of road".
