Central Coast man to face court over alleged historical sex offences

A ninth person will face court today charged as part of an investigation into alleged historical abuse in a Sydney boys home.

Strike Force Eckersley was established by the Nepean Police Area Command in late 2016 following a series of complaints made to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

The allegations relate to the alleged abuse of boys at the Mt Penang Training School, in Gosford, in the late 1970s and the 1980s.

Strike force investigators issued a Court Attendance Notice (CAN) for the offences of four counts of buggery, three counts of indecent assault on male, and six counts of sexual assault knowing no consent given to an 81-year-old man on Thursday 5 March 2020.

Police will allege in court that the man, who was employed as the superintendent at the school, sexually abused six boys between 1977 and 1988.

The Central Coast man is due to appear at Penrith Local Court on Monday, April 20.

Investigations under Strike Force Eckersley are continuing.

Anyone with information that may assist Strike Force Eckersley investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online
