We're all prepping to summer at home again this year in Scotland, and with the option to travel further afield to England hopefully available, many are looking at Center Parcs as an option for a trip away.
In line with the Government's roadmap out of lockdown, lodges will be available subject to a 'one household per lodge' rule.
However, people have been gobsmacked on discovering the price of a stay this year.
The whole debate was started by a tweet from a person claiming that anybody who got to go abroad instead of Centre Parcs as a kid was 'rich' or 'privileged'.
The tweet read: "Brits upset they might not get a holiday abroad this summer. As a kid we never went on a plane. Centre Parcs, Butlins and the caravan in Yarmouth & Meopham. If you left the U.K your folks were either rich, on the game, owned a house or had relatives in that country. Get a grip."
However, the tweet quickly sparked a viral debate, and led many people to point out that a holiday abroad is now CHEAPER than a week in Centre Parcs.
"I can’t book a holiday at Centre Parcs all booked up... £1462 for 2wks in Greece or £1292 for 1wk @ Butlins Bognor Regis decisions decisions," said one person.
"Can have a week in Spain all inclusive for less than 5 nights in center parcs," said yet another person.
Center Parcs told our sister site, Manchester Evening News : "Like many other companies in the travel sector, our prices are set according to demand. We have seen a significant increase in bookings and interest in Center Parcs breaks recently.
"Our bookings for 2021, in particular from May onwards, are very strong. It is also worth noting that we are still anticipating operating at reduced capacity during this year to enable us to allow for social distancing on our villages, so there will be less availability across our villages as a result."
