Center Parcs Longford Forest to close for two weeks following coronavirus restrictions

Center Parcs in Longford will close their doors for just over two weeks following Thursday's coronavirus restriction announcements.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar announced yesterday that all schools, childcare facilities, third level colleges and public buildings will be closed until March 29.

All indoor mass gatherings of more than 100 people and outdoor gatherings of over 500 people should be cancelled.

And businesses have also been asked to facilitate remote working for employees where possible.

Break times should be staggered and meetings should be done remotely if possible.

Center Parcs later issued a statement saying "The decision has been taken to close Center Parcs Longford Forest, including Aqua Sana Longford Forest, from Friday, March 13, to Sunday, March 29, 2020. "

The company stressed that the measure was taken as a precaution.

A spokesperson said: "This proactive measure is very much a preventative one and there have been no reported cases of COVID-19 within Center Parcs Longford Forest."

The company added that they would be in touch with guests who were due to stay at Center Parcs within the affected period to reschedule their holiday or arrange a refund.

A spokesperson said: "We recognise that this will be disappointing news for anyone looking forward to their break.

"We would like to thank our guests for their patience and understanding in these exceptional circumstances and look forward to welcoming them back later in the year."
