Center Parcs 'hopeful' it can reopen its villages when lockdown ends

Center Parcs says it is hopeful it can reopen as many of its villages as possible when the second lockdown ends.

The holiday firm said it was "eagerly awaiting" more information on what tiers different parts of the country will fall into before it could make a decision.

It said that information was likely to come by Thursday and it would make an announcement on reopening soon afterwards.

A spokesman said: "We will update our guests via our social media channels and website as soon as we can.

"We’re crossing our fingers and hoping that we will be able to open our villages and welcome guests to our Winter Wonderland experience."

All of Center Parcs's UK villages were forced to close from November 5 to December 4 to fall in line with a second national lockdown.

However, the company's Sherwood Forest site was already closed before the lockdown announcement because of Nottinghamshire's Tier 3 restrictions.

Customers who had trips booked to any of the villages were offered the chance to reschedule their breaks or receive a full refund.
