Center Parcs bans 'Christmas bubbles' from gathering at its lodges

Center Parcs said it is "disappointed" that it won't be able to bring extended families together over the Christmas period.

After the government announced that the country will be going back into different tiers up until Christmas, the popular holiday location has had to make some tough decisions.

Center Parcs has sites across the country including in Sherwood Forest, which will remain closed until at least Thursday, December 17.

Elveden Forest, Longleat Forest, Whinfell Forest and Woburn Forest have been open to guests since December 4.

However, the park has taken some decisions about the Christmas period.

A statement published on the Center Parcs UK Facebook page read: "We’ve taken some time to review the Government Christmas Bubble guidelines and consider any implications on the break of December 23 to December 27 at our UK villages.

"Unfortunately, due to the unique nature of our facilities and the proximity of hundreds of families, Center Parcs is not an appropriate location for Christmas bubbles to come together.

"We’re disappointed that we are unable to bring extended families together over the Christmas break, but this is the correct interpretation of the guidance for our business and the right decision in the interests of keeping our staff and guests as safe as possible.

"We will therefore continue following the tier system throughout the Christmas and festive period."

This latest changes to the sites mean:

No Christmas bubbles at Center Parcs, single households only in a lodge, the 'Rule of 6' applies outdoors, you may only visit a restaurant in a single household (maximum of 6 to a table) and if you live in a tier 3 area you won’t be able to visit and all other tier 2 rules apply.

All guests impacted by a closure will have the option to change dates with £100 discount or cancel and claim a full refund.
