Census 2022 looking to hire people across Ireland within weeks - and the pay is surprisingly good

Census 2022 may offer the perfect opportunity for anyone looking for some extra cash next year.

The Central Statistics Office is looking for Field Supervisors in a number of areas for Census 2022.

They are needed in 20 counties, including Dublin, Galway, Cork and Limerick.

Eileen Murphy, Head of Census Administration for the CSO, said: “Census Field Supervisors will work near their own locality, so it is important to have applicants from local areas.”

Counties Kilkenny, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Roscommon, Tipperary, Waterford and Wexford are seeking applications from candidates based in any town.

In Dublin, they are needed in the City Centre, West and North County areas. They are also needed in East Wicklow as well as Naas in Kildare, Granard in Longford and Belturbet in Cavan.

Galway City Centre, Headford, Portumna and Tuam areas are also open for applications, along with Letterkenny in Donegal, Cork County and North City. In Kerry, supervisors are needed in Castleisland, Dingle, Kilmona and Knocknagashel.

Castletroy, Dooradoyle, Garryowen, Kings Island, Thomondgate and the City Centre of Limerick are open for applications, as well as Foxford and Louisburgh in Mayo. In Westmeath, Athlone and Mullingar need supervisors.

Applicants are also needed for all Gaeltacht areas around the country.

Ireland’s 27th census will take place in April of next year, but the job contract begins in January and ends in May. It will be the biggest survey to date, providing invaluable information on a range of topics. It’s crucial to the future of the country in terms of planning schools, hospitals, transport, community services and much more.

Successful candidates will manage a team of 10 to 13 enumerators, or those taking the census. Field Supervisors will earn €564 per week plus allowances. They will be expected to interview and train their team, as well as ensuring the census is successfully delivered and collected by them.

“We are looking for people who have team management experience, good communication skills and are computer literate. Successful candidates will receive training,” Murphy said.

Enumerator positions will be advertised in November 2021.

Applications for Field Supervisor are open until Tuesday, September 21 at 2 pm. Apply through censusrecruitment.cso.ie/ .
