Cenk Tosun transfer plea made as Everton forward wanted

Besiktas president Ahmet Nur Cebi has confirmed his side want to bring Cenk Tosun back to the club.

Tosun has netted 10 times in 53 appearances for Everton since joining in January 2018 for a £27million fee from Cebi's side.

While for the Turkish club, the forward scored 64 goals in 142 matches prior to his move to Goodison Park.

The forward has recently made his return from an eight-month layoff following a serious knee injury and Cebi is keen for him to return to his old club.

“There is a saying, ‘My dear wants heaven, but my sins do not leave,'” he told BeIN SPORTS via Sport Witness.

“I also want Besiktas to get better players for success. We want to rejuvenate the team. I want a striker transfer.

“Cenk Tosun comes to the fore as a name. Cenk Tosun is with a club now, connected, but I would like to try it if there is a chance.”

Crystal Palace had agreed an option to buy Tosun for £20m at the end of last season but an ACL injury put all plans on hold and the forward returned to the Blues after undergoing surgery.

Tosun has since been told by Carlo Ancelotti that he will be used in "some games" this season after making his first Everton appearance in over 11 months at the start of November.

The forward came off the bench to replace Niels Nkounkou at Newcastle United, to play for the Blues for the first time since December 21 against Arsenal - the day of Ancelotti's appointment.

“We need Cenk for some games, he is a good striker in the box, really good, really efficient in the box,” the three-time Champions League winner said.

“It is good to have him back. Of course, he has to improve his condition but I think it is an important sign he is back."

Tosun has since featured against Manchester United for the Blues before the break, and scored and assisted in Turkey's 3-3 with Croatia on Wednesday night.
