Cenk Tosun sent Everton transfer message by Duncan Ferguson

Cenk Tosun has been told he still has a "big part to play" at Everton after scoring in the FA Cup win over Rotherham.

Tosun raced onto Anthony Gordon's through-ball and produced a chipped finish to open the scoring at Goodison after just nine minutes.

The Turkish striker would see a close range header saved in the second-half before having a second goal ruled out by the VAR for offside.

Tosun says he will make a decision on his Everton future in "2-3 weeks" with Everton open to offers for the 29-year-old but while Duncan Ferguson says any transfer is a matter for the club and player, he is backing the Turkey international to still be a key figure in Carlo Ancelotti's squad this season.

“It will be down to the club and himself," the Everton assistant said, following the 2-1 extra-time win.

"Cenk has got a big part to play at the club."

Tosun was forced to clarify his goal celebration for his disallowed goal during the FA Cup tie after it was suggested he may have made a hand gesture linked with a far-right group in Turkey.

The forward told club officials that he hadn't made the gesture and has no knowledge of the group in question.
