Cenk Tosun's expected return date from injury confirmed as Everton striker begins recovery

The knee injury sustained by Cenk Tosun could keep him sidelined until at least November, according to his father.

Tosun underwent surgery after rupturing his patella tendon while playing for loan club Besiktas last week.

It is Tosun's second major knee injury after suffering cruciate ligament damage when playing for Crystal Palace last season.

The Turkey international only returned to action in November but now faces another extended spell on the sidelines.

Quoted by TumSpor, the striker's father Senol Tosun says his son is targeting a return to action before Christmas.

“The surgery went very well," he is reported to have said.

“They said he could return to the field after 6-7 months.

"Cenk is very strong.

"Look, he started working right after the surgery.

"Cenk was very upset, of course, but he’s stronger than any of us."

Tosun went on loan to Besiktas in the hope of picking up game-time ahead of the delayed European Championships.

The 29-year-old will enter the final year of his Everton contract this summer.
