Cenk Tosun opens up on his long wait for Everton opportunity and conversations with Marco Silva

Cenk Tosun has opened up on his time on the Everton sidelines and the advice Marco Silva has been giving him.

The striker has been consigned to the bench for the majority of the campaign thus far and is still yet to make a start in all compeitions for the Blues as of yet.

However, the Turkey international has come on as a substitute to make an impact in both of Everton's last two matches - grabbing an assist against Watford before bagging a late eqauliser to earn a point against Spurs on Sunday.

Tosun was patient and wants to take more opportunities when they present themselves in the future.

"I have waited a long, long time for this chance. I've worked hard in training to get that goal," he told evertontv .

"I'm always happy when I help my team and I hope I can help over the next few weeks as well. Against Southampton if I start or come on, I will help the team again.

"Score goals, getting assists - that's what I have to do."

Being out of the side has not been easy for the striker, he went on to admit.

However, the 28-year-old has also revealed he is in constant communication with his manager to improve and to help Everton even further.

He added: "I have just kept working and had faith. It is not easy, we are playing in the Premier League and have a really good team. We have to work more and more to get in the side.

"That is what I did and the manager gave me the opportunity – and I showed character and scored.

"We [Tosun and Silva] talk and after training he tells me what he wants from me, [which is] scoring goals, more work, more running, runs behind the defence and helping the team.

"I have been working on it [Silva's instructions] a couple of months and it is getting better now.

"I just go out to show my skills and what I can do. I really like to help the team and play with heart.

"It was great to help in the past two games with an assist and a goal. We have to make an impact when we come on."
