Cengiz Under issues 'dream' Jose Mourinho transfer message amid Arsenal rumours

Reported Arsenal target Cengiz Under has issued a fresh message over his intentions for his immediate future.

The Turkish winger is set to return to AS Roma following a disappointing loan spell with Leicester City but has been linked to the Gunners.

According to reports from TuttoMercatoWeb just a few weeks ago, Arsenal are interested in making a move for the wide man, with Willian’s future at the Emirates Stadium looking somewhat uncertain.

However, that prospect now looks unlikely after the 24-year-old revealed that he harbours “dreams” of working with Jose Mourinho, who has just taken the reins at Under’s parent club AS Roma.

He said: “One of my biggest dreams since I was a child was to work with Jose Mourinho. If you ask any Turkish player, everyone would like to work with him, me too."

Despite the transfer speculation surrounding him, Under has also reaffirmed that he is not thinking about his future but is instead focussing on the upcoming championships.

He has been included in Senol Gunes’ squad for Euro 2020.

“I hope the European Championship will be good for all of us," Under continued. “Right now, I'm focused on the European Championship, we'll talk about [my future] later.

“I don't know what will happen. My current goal will be Euro 2020, not my transfer. I feel I'm 100 per cent ready. I played friendlies and scored a goal. It was very important for my morale."

It is not the first time that the Gunners have been linked to Under.

There were reports in the Turkish media that Arsenal were said to be considering a bid in the summer of 2019 during Unai Emery's tenure.

Whether Arsenal have retained the interest reported a few weeks ago remains to be seen, but the player’s spell at Leicester City certainly would not have done him any favours - having netted just two goals in 19 appearances in all competitions.
