The Boston Celtics game against the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday, January 12th has now been postponed after yesterday’s contest with the Miami Heat was as well — both out of concerns for COVID-19 safety, per multiple sources.
With a number of players on the Celtics either put into quarantine (Robert Williams III, Jayson Tatum) or in the NBA’s health and safety protocol for precautionary measures (Grant Williams, Tristan Thompson, Semi Ojeleye, Jaylen Brown, Javonte Green), it seems evident at least one more player has joined their ranks, given the Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach reports it is the Celtics who will not have eight available players.

The Jan. 10 tilt with the Heat had been scheduled to go ahead with Boston to play with the league-minimum required eight players when an inconclusive test for Miami forced Boston’s opponent to fall below that number, triggering the game’s push to a future date.
The Celtics, who were due to fly to Chicago at 3 p.m. today, will now make up the game at a date to be determined.
The NBA has reportedly decided to review and potentially modify its health and safety protocols in conjunction with the National Basketball Players’ Association (NBPA) after the COVID-19-related goings on around the league of the last several days.
