Celtics trade 24th overall pick, Aron Baynes to Suns for future 1st

The Boston Celtics are wheeling and dealing this draft, as expected.

After trading back from the 20th overall pick to the 24th overall pick in a trade that sent former Washington Huskies guard Matise Thybulle to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Celtics have traded the 24th overall pick to the Phoenix Suns. The Suns are set to select former Virginia Cavaliers guard Ty Jerome with that draft pick.

The Celtics received a 2020 first-round pick in exchange for the 24th overall pick while also shipping away veteran center Aron Baynes.

Prior to the draft, it was reported that the Celtics don’t want to have three rookies on their roster in the 2019-20 season. They’ve already selected two players this draft in Indiana’s Romeo Langford and Tennessee’s Grant Williams.
