Celtics release official statement on coronavirus, season suspension

The Boston Celtics released an official statement on the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the resulting indefinite suspension of the NBA season that has resulted after a presumptive positive result for Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert.

The statement addressed what the team is and has done concerning the viral outbreak currently disrupting league business, noting the team has been in constant contact with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

Physicians at that institution believe based on the information they have that is unlikely any Celtics players came into contact with Gobert and another unnamed player while they were contagious, but continue to exercise “an abundance of caution in taking every measure to be vigilant and safe,” per the team.

Testing, self-quarantine and whatever additional methods recommended by the Department of Health experts will be closely followed, according to the Celtics.

Boston signed off ensuring fans and employees alike they are taking the issue very seriously, as they undoubtedly should.
