Celtics own second and third quarters in commanding win over Rockets

Tonight, the Boston Celtics bounced back from a 121 – 109 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday with a commanding 134 – 107 victory against the Houston Rockets, led by a combined 47 points between the All-Star tandem of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.

During the first quarter, neither the Celtics nor the Rockets dared playing a lick of defense, as Boston led 38 – 34 after the first 12 minutes. But in the second and third quarters, the Celtics defense matched the elite level of play as their offense, outscoring the Rockets 66 – 38 during those two frames.

Brown led the way for the Celtics with 24 points on 9-of-14 from the field. Jayson Tatum added 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Kemba Walker got hot during Boston’s third quarter run, finishing with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.

The Celtics saw a huge burst off the bench tonight from big man Robert Williams, scoring 16 points while grabbing 13 rebounds and blocking 3 shots. Williams made his impact felt on both ends on almost every possession he was out on the floor.

Boston will look to build on tonight’s performance back at home on Thursday against the league’s top team, the Utah Jazz, on TNT at 6:30 PM.
