Celtics officially announce succesful surgery for vet forward Danilo Gallinari

The Boston Celtics officially announced that veteran forward Danilo Gallinari has had his operation to repair a torn ACL the swingman suffered in FIBA World Cup qualifier play this summer.

Per a press release circulated by the Celtics organization, Gallinari “underwent successful left knee revision ACL repair” with the procedure performed by team doctor Tony Schena at New England Baptist Hospital the same day as Robert Williams III’s arthroscopic cleanup operation, also done by Schena at the same location. The doctor was helped by Dr. Paul Weitzel in the operation.

Dr. Brian Cole also had been consulted on Gallo’s case, according to the release.

Per the Celtics, additional updates on Gallinari’s recovery will be “provided as appropriate,” with the Italian swingman expected to miss all of the 2022-23 NBA regular season, and perhaps beyond it.
