Celtics’ Marcus Smart to treat teammates with trip to see Terminator

With a heavy emphasis on chemistry emerging in the aftermath of an underwhelming season that saw a fractured locker room as the root cause of the team’s overall struggles, the Boston Celtics’ longest-tenured player is planning on taking his team to the movies on Sunday in order for the team to continue building bonds off-the-court.

Per Celtics reporter Amanda Pflugrad, 25-year-old Marcus Smart will take his teammates to an AMC theater that he rented out in order for the team to see Terminator: Dark Fate, starring acting legend Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Following the Celtics’ win over the New York Knicks on Saturday, Smart and teammate Kemba Walker discussed the importance of spending time with the team off-the-court.

“Last year, for us what was really big was the chemistry,” Smart starts. “Some days we had it. Some days we didn’t.

So this year, I just wanted to make sure the chemistry was there. The bonds [were] there. And everybody was comfortable off-the-court with everybody and I think the best way is just to get around each other as much as possible.”

“It matters,” says Walker. “It matters. We want to be as close as possible.”

“I’ve always been a big believer that when you do things off the court and you really get along and you like each other, it translates on the court. It makes you want to play for your brother… as many things as we can do together, it’ll be beneficial for us.”
