Celtics’ Jaylen Brown to miss home tilt vs. Pels with left hip contusion

The Boston Celtics will be without the services of All-Star forward Jaylen Brown in their first game with fans in TD Garden in over a year tonight as they take on the New Orleans Pelicans in the first game of a long home stretch.

The team listed the Georgia native as out with a left hip contusion, joining forward Semi Ojeleye (left side strain) as out injured, and shooting guard Romeo Langford (health and safety protocols) and big man Tristan Thompson (health and safety protocols) as definitely scratches for the contest. Newly-acquired veteran shooting guard Evan Fournier is listed as questionable in the health and safety protocols as well.

Hopefully the presence of fans in the stands — albeit in limited numbers — will help make up for the thinned ranks of Boston heading into tonight’s game.

Perhaps the memory of the embarrassing loss at the Pels’ hands earlier this season will add more fuel to that particular fire as well.
