Celtics injury update: Tatum, Walker upgraded to available; Brown remains doubtful

The Boston Celtics just revealed they expect to have two more healthy players available tonight as they take on the Phoenix Suns at TD Garden, sharing that both All-NBA small forward Jayson Tatum and starting point guard Kemba Walker are expected to be available to play in the Thursday night contest.

The UConn product had been battling non-COVID illness and had previously been listed as probable for tonight’s game, while his counterpart on the wing from Duke had been listed as questionable with a left ankle impingement on Wednesday night’s injury report. The Celtics continued to list All-Star forward Jaylen Brown as doubtful with left shoulder bursitis as well.

The team has both center  Robert Williams III (knee soreness) and guard Evan Fournier (health and safety protocols) as definite scratches for the game.

The Phoenix Suns are likely to add former Celtic forward Jae Crowder to their injury list as well, with the Marquette product having sprained his ankle in the Suns’ win over the East’s first-place Philadelphia 76ers.
