Celtics injury update: Robert Williams III downgraded to OUT vs. Hawks; considered day-to-day

Fans of Boston Celtics starting center Robert Williams III might be disappointed that the Texas A&M product will miss Wednesday night’s tilt with the Atlanta Hawks due to knee soreness, but they can take some comfort in the fact that it looks as if the knee troubles are minor and the scratch more of a precautionary measure than anything.

“It’s a short-term thing,” said head coach Ime Udoka to the press on the day of the game. “He just didn’t feel ready to go tonight. He felt better than the other night when it happened but (we’re) just being cautious with that.” Timelord confirmed the move was made in an abundance of caution, stating “I just remember starting to take steps down the court (against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday) and starting to feel that pain.”

“I wasn’t trying to show it to the coaching staff, but when they saw me limping a little bit, they took me out,” he added.

While it is still too soon to say for certain, that the team might have both Williams and recuperating All-Star forward Jaylen Brown back for the team’s national television game against the Los Angeles Lakers Friday in unequivocally good news.
