Celtics injury update: Only Aaron Nesmith remains in NBA’s COVID-19 protocols for Boston

The Boston Celtics are inching back towards full health after a large number of players have been in and out of the NBA’s health and safety protocols with positive COVID-19 test results in recent weeks, which was revealed by coach Ime Udoka while speaking to the press after practice Tuesday morning.

Asked how many players were exiting the protocols, Udoka replied “Quite a few. Enes (Freedom) is back, Jayson (Tatum) as well. I’m still waiting on some (negative tests) from Aaron (Nesmith).” The Celtics coach also noted that Jabari Parker had missed practice for some dental work, but would check on his status on Wednesday ahead of Boston’s home game against the San Antonio Spurs that evening.

It is not out of the question that Nesmith could also return negative tests to make himself available in time to play on Wednesday, but with so many other Celtics returning to action, it seems more likely than not he will continue to recondition himself for a future tilt instead.
