The Boston Celtics have downgraded All-Star forward Jaylen Brown to questionable with a non-COVID illness for Saturday night’s contest with the Golden State Warriors at TD Garden, relates the team.
The Georgia native will join starting center Robert Williams III (left knee soreness) and Evan Fournier (health and safety protocols) as scratches for the tilt if he does not suit up for the game tonight with a Golden State franchise itself beset with injuries. In addition to veteran wing Klay Thompson — out for the season with an achilles injury — the Warriors will also be without the services of forward Kelly Oubre (wrist), forward Eric Paschal (hip) and rookie big man James Wiseman (meniscus).
While Golden State is no pushover with a healthy Steph Curry on the roster and available to play, Boston still ought to be in a good position even if Brown sits.

So long as the Celtics continue playing with the same kind of more aggressive, connected play they have shown in recent games, the Cal-Berkeley product taking the night off to heal is a very superable loss.
A little additional rest for Brown’s sometimes balky knee might not be so bad in and of itself.
