Celtics injury update: Boston announces Jayson Tatum in NBA’s health, safety protocols, OUT vs. Timberwolves

The Boston Celtics have announced that All-Star forward Jayson Tatum has entered the league’s health and safety protocols with a positive COVID-19 test return, which will have the St. Louis native out against the Minnesota Timberwolves Monday night.

Tatum joins Bruno Fernando, Enes Freedom, Justin Jackson, CJ Miles, Aaron Nesmith, Josh Richardson, and Dennis Schroder in the protocols, with Grant Williams also listed as questionable and hopefully exiting them as well. It is the second stint for Tatum with the Duke product having previously had a severe incidence of COVID-19 at the beginning of 2021 which left him needing an inhaler after an extended absence to recover.

No word at present on the severity or other details regarding Tatum’s current condition, but fingers crossed this go-round with the virus behind the pandemic is a lighter one than last time.
