Celtics injury update: Aaron Nesmith, Enes Freedom OUT vs. Magic; Jayson Tatum, Dennis Schroder, Timelord questionable

The Boston Celtics have issued an update to their injury report this morning ahead of the team’s game at TD Garden against the Orlando Magic on Sunday, Jan. 2, and it appears that the Celtics are taking a more conservative view on the availability of several players than they had initially.

Aaron Nesmith joins Enes Kanter Freedom as a scratch in the league’s health and safety protocols, with Nesmith having previously left the protocols listing on the injury report. Similarly, Dennis Schroder is downgraded to questionable as he returns from the protocols as well, having previously been off the injury report.

He will share that status with Jayson Tatum, who is also returning from the protocols, and Robert Williams III, who has a sprained right toe.

Boston should be fine against Orlando without them so long as they show up to play, but will welcome the return of those players to the fold as they have been among the harder-hit teams in the league with regard to COVID-19 absences yet again.
