Celtics fans serenade arena with anti-Kyrie chants with Brooklyn Nets in town

Despite being sidelined with a shoulder injury that had kept him out for six consecutive contests, Boston Celtics fans let Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving — who jetted from the team in June after proclaiming his desire to remain in Boston long-term — know exactly how they feel about him when the Nets came to town to face the Celtics.

First, defeating chants of “Where is Kyrie?” rang through player introductions.

Not that the chants were unexpected for those that saw posters of Kyrie posted near TD Garden that read “COWARD.”

To be fair, Irving’s shoulder impingement may highlights a more serious injury, like a torn rotator cuff.

However, with Celtics fanatics and media stirring the pot before the two team’s matchup up, with even former Celtic and current ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins (there are, in fact, a few pro-Celtics analysts hired at ESPN) saying that Irving orchestrated his injury to avoid playing in Boston, Celtics fans weren’t ready to give Irving the benefit of the doubt.

Following those chants, along with incessant booing, Celtics fans unleashed a chant of “Kyrie sucks” for good measure.

Celtics fans won’t be letting go of Irving’s rocky ending in Boston anytime soon.
